About Us
Bringing the Hope of Jesus Christ to the hurting, for His name’s sake.
Two things are most certain in this world: the pain and sting of grief and tragedy, and our propensity to not know what to say or do to help others during these times. Grieving and suffering people are all around us, in fact you and I will one day again grieve and suffer the loss and pain of tragedy, death, loss, or disease. Do you know what to do or say the next time you come face-to-face with the suffering of this world?
Hope in the Mourning exists to help those who are grieving or suffering death, disease, tragedy, or loss. We do this by equipping you to show the love of our Lord Jesus Christ to others, and by using your donations to directly help others who are suffering through tangible means that will encourage their hurting hearts with the love and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When our organization helps those who are grieving and suffering, we are given a unique opportunity to evangelize the Good News of eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that in doing this we are fulfilling the Lord’s instructions found in Matthew 22:36-40, when the lawyer asked Jesus:
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And Jesus said to him, “YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.” This is the greatest and foremost commandment. And a second is like it, “YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.” On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
And again as spoken by the Apostle Paul in Galatians 6:2:
“Bear one another’s burdens, and thus fulfill the law of Christ.”
Our teams and our work are for our Lord’s glory, so that no man may boast.
Mission Statement
Hope in the Mourning is a 501(c)(3) nondenominational evangelical Christian organization that provides spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Our organization was born out of a desire to help the grieving and suffering as well as equip and support those Christians who are ministering God’s love to hurting people around the world in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Hope in the Mourning serves the Church worldwide by bringing the hope of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to every hurting heart.
Our Leadership
Hope in the Mourning is guided by a robust leadership of 10 active Board Members. Many of these Board Members have served or currently serve as directors of other Christian ministries, and are comprised of successful businessmen, pastors, theologians, authors, educators, certified counselors, medical doctors, and surgeons.
Emily Curtis serves as the Founder and President of Hope in the Mourning and guides the creative vision behind our Ministry, as well as hosting the weekly Radio and Podcast Hope in the Mourning. She is the author of the book Hope in the Mourning – A Hope-Filled Guide through Grief.
